SEMESTER OR ACADEMIC YEAR AT THE UNIVERSIDAD NACIONAL DE CORDOBA (UNC), ARGENTINA
This program fully integrates students into academic life at the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (UNC). The UT-UNC resident staff provide a vital entry into the different departments of the student campus. Especially organized Latin American Studies and the Spanish courses bridge the North and South American academic systems. Students may participate for a semester or a year.
Undergraduate students take two courses designed for UT students: Spanish for Academic Purposes, and History and Culture of Argentina. Depending on a language evaluation given after acceptance, the students may take additional Spanish courses for foreigners or regular University courses from a wide variety of recommended UNC courses. Additionally, students may substitute one course by a UT-approved independent study, which will be supervised by a UNC professor.
Graduate students take Spanish for Academic Purposes and History and Culture of Argentina, and complete the full load with graduate courses from UNC and independent research supervised by a UNC professor.
The program staff at UNC advise, assist with registration, provide special Spanish tutoring with the language coordinator, and organize orientation, excursions and weekly extracurricular cultural activities. The program maximizes cultural immersion by placing only one student with a selected local family and by facilitating a student-to-student conversation partnership for all participants matched on the basis of mutual interests. The program classes will be at UNC’s main buildings, where UT students will have an opportunity to participate in the daily routine of Argentine student life and enjoy the liveliness of a campus in full session.
